Corks & Creativity at Picasso
The first Corchos & Creatividad (Corks & Creativity) night went off with a bang last Thursday at Picasso. The evening started with some trivia, 6 teams were in attendance for this first session. Trivia will run as a 10-week league.
Picasso encourages new teams to join early, while they still have a chance to catch the winners! Reigning champions after week 1 are the amazing "Cockney Rebels".
This new iteration of Picasso trivia is charity-focused. Points will be accumulated throughout the 10 weeks (3 points for the team in 1st place, 2 points for 2nd and 1 point for the 3rd placed team). The team with the most points accumulated over the league period of 10 weeks, will choose the charity to which Picasso will donate $250! The charitable spirit makes this event fun for everyone, and by the end of the 4 trivia league periods Picasso will have donate $1000 to various charities!
The open-mic section of the evening is another exciting addition to Thursday nights here in Coronado. Last Thursday the first open-mic night brought 3 guitar-players, a flute-player and a smattering of writers who came to check out the vibe, with plans to present their art on a future Thursday.
“For me open mic is a big deal event", explains Owner Claire Ross, "Picasso’s goal is be a venue that creates exposure and offers an opportunity for local musicians and performance artists to be heard.”
Did you know that Claire iis a secret spoken-word poet herself? With some luck you might hear her preform one of these Thursday's!
While Picasso has always offered creative experiences to accompany fresh fusion plates and pizzas, we are especially excited about this one. With so many talents in the area we are certain Thursday’s will offer the Coronado community some new creativity we’ve been craving.
Did we mention half price corkage?
