6 Unique Products Available in Coronado
1 - THE PRODUCTS: Nido Bag & shorts feature colorful molas, hand sewn by women from the Guna Yala Commarca. The intricate molas are transformed into wearable works of art by a group of Panamanian seamstresses. THE SHOP: NIDO Indie Shop in Coronado. Located 1km from Coronado toward the city on the PanAmerican Highway, ocean side. THE PERSON BEHIND IT: Rebecca Kore, creator or Cooperativa El Nido & owner of the NIDO Indie Shop, is the woman behind mola-inspired fashion! Cooperativa El Nido’s aim is to empower local women though arming them with skills they can use, and pass on. The store carries Cooperativa El Nido brands and a wide variety of local & international indie fashion.
2 - THE PRODUCTS: Davines is a line of high-end hair care products developed in Italy. The company aims to use less packaging, recyclable bottles, and create natural hair care products that really work.
THE SHOP: Salon Hair Wellness. Located in the Village mall, across from Machetazo.
THE PERSON BEHIND IT: Aldo de Martino, originally from Italy, is the owner and lead hairdresser at Salon Hair Wellness. He comes from a long line of Italian stylists, which becomes quite clear when you see him with scissors in hand. Aldo uses Davines products for all of his services, and can design a hair care plan to keep you locks feeling healthy come sun and salt.
3 - THE PRODCUTS: Phytomer is a French skin care company using marine microorganisms to produce new, natural active ingredients, free of chemical solvents and plastics.
THE SHOP: Suan Sculpting Spa. Located in the Bayside Mall just after the El Rey plaza driving toward the city, ocean side.
THE PERSON BEHIND IT: Ana Marie Cofer has been in the beauty industry for many years, working along side plastic surgeons and the cosmetic brand CHANEL. Today Ana seeks to offer cutting edge skincare services, without using any invasive methods. Phytomer trains the cosmetologist and physiotherapist at Suan annually. Each year they learn about new products, and advances in cosmetology, massage therapy and esthetics.
4 - THE PRODUCTS: Melody’s Garden Natural Skin-care and makeup products are made in Gorgona by artisan Melody Van Koughnett.
THE SHOP: Picasso. The restaurant/ pop-up community market is located inside the Coronado gates on the corner of Ave. Punta Prieta & Eisennman.
THE PERSON BEHIND IT: Claire Ross, is the free spirited the owner of Picasso. She has supported local artisans since opening her doors, though hosting community markets, carrying organic products like Melody’s, and using fresh ingredients from local vendors in her recipes.
5 - THE PRODUCTS: T-J TeJub basket bags are made locally, and accessorized by a Panamanian designer. Colombian swimsuit brand, KoroKora, is one brand of form fitting bathing suits now available at the beach.
THE SHOP: Arenas Beachwear. Located in the Village Mall on the second level.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT: Yissel Morale and Eduardo Gorrido opened their doors this earlier this year, bringing a products that are handmade Panama, Colombia and beyond to Coronado.
6 – THE PRODUCTS: You can now buy high quality Argentinian beef at the beach. The Angus certified beef is sold in a variety of cuts including Ribeye, New York Strip, Tenderloin, Sirloin and more. If you planning a barbeque try the Kobe beef burgers!
THE SHOP: BT Carnes Gourmet. Located in the Las Pergolas mall, behind Reba Smith.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT: Al Bianchini, Panamanian and his wife Mariana Rutigliano, from La Plata Argentina, opened BT Carnes Gourmet in February of this year. The couple aim is to always have a wide variety of quality meats available.
