Happy Ocean Month Panama!
“Unless someone like you, cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, its just not.” – The Lorax Join the Community Beach Clean-up this Sunday starting at 8:00 a.m. leaving from the Coronado Beach Club. For more info contact Kara at Kara@PlayaCommunity.com or visit the PlayaCommunity Events Calendar. The Ocean is vital part of our existence. It is a source of food, a temperature regulator, a means of transportation and an environmental indicator. The ocean is our playground, and an integral party of our country. While we have barely broken the frontier of ocean exploration, we are starting to see signs of human impact. With these warning signs in mind humanity is met with a choice: to ignore or, to take action. Each year Panama takes one month to raise awareness on Ocean conservation.
This September will be the 11th Annual Ocean Month in Panama. Each year in September organizations and institutions work together to organize conferences and workshops on ocean conservation throughout the Country. This year the calendar is full of interactive events including an artist workshops, triathlon and a national beach clean up on September 7th.
Some of the organizations involved in this year's Ocean Month include: Panama's National Environmental Agency (ANAM), Panama's Minestary of Health (MINSA), Pamama's school board (MEDUSA), The Smithsonian Tropical Reseach Institute (STRI)The Panama International Maritime University, (PICU) and several NGO's including: Promar, MarVida & Panama International
