Beach Real Estate Association meeting and Awards Presentation
The Beach Real Estate Association met on June 26th at Café Coronado. Try Panama Real Estate hosted the event. The primary focus of the association (BREA) is to work together to establish standards and policies as a group in order to benefit both the buyer and seller while maintaining a high standard of professionalism throughout the entire real estate sales process. The meeting proved to be quite a success and the day’s hot topic was MLS (multiple listing service), which is growing quickly and gaining respect here in Panama. Many North Americans are very familiar with MLS and its success in promoting real estate listings and maintaining a database of what homes have sold for, how long they have been on the market, and price changes.
The primary purpose of MLS® is to provide the platform for which all Real Estate Agents can collaborate in order sell or rent a property. Properties listed with an ACOBIR MLS Real Estate Broker will be shared with the entire real estate community so that more than 260+ real estate offices can work on finding the right buyer or tenant. This collaboration generates greater market exposure for sellers and each property listed is listed by only one real estate company ensuring correct pricing information, security for the owner that one company is responsible for opening up the home for showings and staying on the property until the showing has concluded and then securing the property. The MLS contract also ensures that both the buyer’s agent and seller’s agent share the sales commission.
ACOBIR membership is via application only and the approval process requires the applicant to submit a Copy of the Real Estate Broker’s license, Business license or Occupational Permit, verifiable legal representation, and three letters of recommendation. Members are also required to adhere to a formal Code of Ethics.
Another meeting of BREA is planned for August. The June meeting concluded with The 2014 Best of the Beach Awards, which were voted on by association members prior to the meeting. The following awards were presented:
