The Rotary Club of Playa Coronado wheelchair project

The Rotary Club of Playa Coronado has partnered with the Wheelchair Foundation, a worldwide organization within Rotary International, which provides wheelchairs, hope, mobility andfreedom to those in need. We here at the beaches have found a dire need in the area for wheelchairs.

Qualifying children, as well as adults, will soon be measured so that the proper chair can be provided. These chairs cost $200 - $700 each. Our rough estimate is that we will need to raise approximately $16,000 - $17,000 (within 60 days) and we are asking our community for support. If you would like to donate 1 or more chairs for $200 each, we will place your name on a plaque and permanently attach it to each wheelchair. Businesses who donate $500 will receive a beautiful framed certificate with a picture of the chair being delivered to the person to whom it was given. Anyone who contributes $1000 will receive both the plaque with your name attached to the chair as well as a certificate with the picture. If you feel you can and would like to donate a different amount, please feel free to contribute to this worthwhile effort. Your donation can be large or small. Everything you do will be appreciated.

This is a worldwide effort to help those who are truly in need, and WE, here on the beaches, are seriously in need of your support. 60 chairs have already been purchased by two Rotary Clubs in Maine, USA. They are scheduled to arrive in March, and will be delivered to recipients in Santiago.

We will be posting more information as we receive it. There will be a number of fundraising events and  you will be kept informed of those as well.
