Mugged at Gun Point on Coronado Golf Course
On Thursday morning around 10:30 am a Coronado resident was walking her dog in a wooded the area of the Coronado Golf course around the 13th and 14th holes. She was approached by two young men between the ages of 18 and 20 years of age. One man waved a gun at her and asked her to give him the phone. The resident was shocked and slow to react, so the man hit her on the head, pushed her over, held the gun to the back of her head, pulled her arms behind her back, and went through her pockets. They took her phone, before the two men took off.
When the woman got back to her home, she called Jim Rizik of the Gorgona Neighborhood Watch, who called the police. After the initial report was taken, the police were on their way with the resident to file a DIJ report, when they spotted the men. They gave chase and captured one of the two men.
A police report was filed and charges were laid. The resident was later advised that the second man was also captured and charged.
People who walk in the Palmeres area and around the Coronado Golf Course, should take note that the area is not fully gated. In fact, as construction opens up area and roads go in, there is better access to the Coronado Golf area from the outside.
It should also be noted that the police responded quickly when called and acted fast in capturing the criminals.
