Impressive Panama Hotel - Review of La Estancia
( www.thepanamareport.com )Our family loves to travel and when we do, we see to it that we make the most of our trip & to choose the best place to stay. La Estancia was not my husband's choice but I and my two girls (ages10 & 16) outvoted him. We got in at Albrook airport, welcomed by a nice driver who spoke English and gave us a bird's eye view of the place. The B&B hotel is owned by Gustavo & Tammy Liu who are friendly & hospitable, seeing to it that all our needs are being attended to. We got a suite and a basic room which are quite clean & perfectly comfortable. Our first day started with a hike up Ancon Hill, admiring the beauty of nature & having fun watching monkeys on top of the trees. I couldn't help taking pictures of them & the beautiful scenery. The view from the top of the hill is breathtaking -- you can see Panama City & Miraflores Locks. The hike made us hungry for a huge breakfast which they served on the balcony. We got yummy pancakes, made to order omelets, wheat toast, coffee, juice & fresh fruits(my favorite). An additional treat was watching the birds(toucans, hummingbirds, crooked beak hawks) & monkeys having breakfast too.
Gustavo is so knowledgeable about places to go & see and have the hotel manager to coordinate our trips & activities around Panama.Taxi fare is reasonable $3.50/trip to the city & we arranged to have the same taxi everytime we go to the city. We love going to Mantra(a good restaurant) and Allbrook mall.We also checked out the Causeway & the canal transit. Panama can be unbearably hot at times so we usually wear cotton shirts & pants when exploring the city. We don't care if we get them dirty for laundry services in the hotel were cheap.
If we don't feel like going out we order in ( Chinese, Mexican or Italian food). The whole place is quite & we love taking naps after exploring outside. The staff are friendly, helpful & always have a smile on their face and above all they value our privacy. I feel so much at home and my girls gained friends. And if you feel for a massage just ask the hotel manager & he'll send you a good masseuse. My husband love to have a massage with the air & sounds of the birds right outside the balcony.
