A Happy Ending for Jeff, Coronado’s Favorite Monkey

Yesterday, Wed. Jan. 22, Jeff popped by the Picasso Happy Hour to say a quick hello. Some residents were excited to see Jeff swing in, while others were concerned as the Punta Prieta & Roberto Eisenmann intersection sees a lot of traffic, especially on a Wednesday.   We spoke to a Coronado resident who had been in contact with a caretaker in the area. She told us the caretaker, who knew the monkey and his previous owner, was able to get a leash on him yesterday afternoon. However, when the caretaker tried to get Jeff in a cage he got scared and escaped.

At around 8:00 p.m. last night, another resident was able to get a leash on the hyper spider monkey. This time expats at Picasso, with the help of a Mexican cyclist, were able to cage him by covering him with a blanket.

Jeff spent last night at a Coronado resident’s home. She told us he was a pretty good houseguest! Today Coronado's favorite monkey will be on his way to his new home in Altos Del Maria, where an expat couple has agreed to care for him. This is great news for Jeff, as he is domesticated and does need to be cared for. After roaming free on streets of Coronado for over a week, Jeff has brought smiles to many of our faces but we are happy to see him go to a safe mountain home with a new loving family.
