The Coronado Beach RC Flying Club

The RC Flying Club is a group of people in the Coronado area who share a common love for flying. The group has grown to include almost a dozen members this year. Among their members are both men and women from the U.S and Canada ranging in age from 17 to 87 years old. While people in the club may differ in age and origin most of them have been flying planes for years in the U.S. and Canada. We spoke to George Thomsen who coordinates the group:   George told us that as a retired pilot flying over 43 years and 38000 flight hours, that he still enjoy flying something. Members of the group enjoy flying different types of planes. “We have everything from small prop aircrafts to larger Fan Jet models flying” said George.

If you are interested in flying, or curious to watch the group fly, the RC Flying Club open to new members. Those interesting in learning the hobby are even welcome to a free lesson. Weather permitting the RC Flying Club will meet Sunday the 19th at 7:00 a.m. on the field in the equestrian club.
