P.a.C.T Brings Theatre to the Pacific Beach Community
One of the more exciting things going on at the beaches are the live theatre shows taking place in local restaurants. The newly formed Theatre Company, Panama & Cocle theater (P.a.C.T) has been getting rave reviews. P.a.C.T has been honing their own group of community players and has also been working with well-established theatre groups like The Boquete Community Players and the Ancon Theatre Guild. Since the first performance last year of a Dinner Murder Mystery, P.a.C.T has managed to create a calendar full of varied performances for residents and visitors in the area. The group just finished a 2-night sold out performance of the Spanglish comedy El Grand Coca-Cola. Preformed by the Boquete Community Players and accompanied by a three-course dinner by Picasso Restaurant, the evening made for an entertaining dinner and show, right here at the beaches.
If you missed El Grand Coca-Cola, don’t worry! There is more to come. On December 19th, P.a.C.T presents Small Talks - an English situational comedy. This play will be performed by the P.a.C.T community players. Which means you will probably recognize some familiar faces. Players include: Wayne Halladay, Anne Watson, Jim Ostrom, Arlene Nash, Yolanda Van Der Kolk, Claire Ross and Charla Armstrong.
Like all the P.a.C.T shows Small Talks won’t be your average theater performance. It will be interactive, a touch wacky, and of course a little risqué. The night will get started with an Art Show called Forbidden Fruit presented by the GoYo Gallery. The exhibit will feature art by Yolanda Van Der Kolk.
Small talks, written by Sue and Clive Read, and directed by Rob Brown, will bring five girlfriends together for a lingerie party. As the night continues the group decides make over one of the more dowdy girls.
The night is sure to be a fun filled event, full of laughter. The evening will kick off at 5:00 p.m. at Picasso Bar & Restautante. Tickets will be sold out quickly. Email goyogallery@gmail.com to purchase.
In February of next year, expect more fun, improv and interaction in an audience-participation game show called Making Whoopee Game Show. The play is a reenactment of the 60’s favorites “The Newlywed Game show.
Also next year P.a.C.T will take on a more serious side as they work to prepare the original play written and directed by Terrance Robert Brown called THERAPIST – Not One Word. This chilling thriller about a sociopath psychiatrist will go to stage April. 10th 2014.
In June, P.a.C.T has teamed up with the Ancon Theater Guild to perform Rocky Horror Show, which previously showed in Panama City. The play is an interactive roller coaster and a will take place on Friday, June 13under the full moon.
P.a.C.T is now offering season tickets to all their shows. Regular priced tickets are offered at a cost of $39.95 (includes dinner and a show). For one ticket to 5 shows pay $189.75 (a discount of 5%), or for 2 tickets to 5 shows pay $359.55 (a savings of 10%).
