Fashion Week in Panama 2013

This year’s Fashion Week in Panama 2013 (FWP13) held in Panama City was a huge success, taking fashion to new heights in Panama. The designers list this year was like a who’s who in the fashion world, with exhibits from Tom Van der Borght from Belgium, Lodovika Koch from NY, and winner of the acclaimed TV series Project Runway, Dmitry Sholokhov.Latin and South American deisgners were well represented with big names as Fatima Arrieta from Peru, and local talent such as Fatima Vargas and Gaby and Norma Valenzuela. There names were only a few of 20 or more local designers.We have a host of new models that are very professional in their trade and this year the face of FWP13 was Natalia Blasser.

As with other years the shows benefitted various charities such as Fundacancer, Juventud Casa Esperanza and operation Sonrisa

The sponsors list is growing also with such names as Copa Airlines and Samsung Galaxy in the list.
 
An interesting question that I was asked during the shows was “why does anyone from the beaches follow fashion, as all you need is beach ware and towels?”

We I think that the shows on Saturday exhibited fashion that could be worn in any location, including beach parties, especially with the Caribbean influence and wonderfully warm colors in many of the pictures included in this article.

With the development of the beaches areas I think it would be great to see you all at the show next year, and see some of the clothes being worn out and about.
