Real Estate Professionals Join Together To Form An Alliance

Since there’s no Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in Panama buying property here can be difficult.  A perspective client must go from one real estate office to the next, comparing properties and dealing with more than one agent at a time. Recently a group of realtors joined forces in an effort to create a Real Estate Alliance here in the beach communities.  The meeting organized by Corrin Skubin of Try Panama Real Estate would be the first of many.  The thinking behind this endeavor is to create an alliance that real estate agents and brokers can join, under the guidance of a board of directors.  Each applicant would be required to submit an application listing his or her qualifications along with letters of reference.  All agents would pay a nominal fee on a monthly or yearly basis to belong to the alliance.

Once established such an alliance would help promote better business practices, and instill a sense of trust and ethics among real estate professionals. It would create a set of standards that all real estate offices could follow, involving the same paperwork throughout. All agents would have access to each other’s property listings making it easier for the prospective client to buy or sell a property.

For example, a client has a house to sell and walks into a real estate office.  They would be asked to sign a “closed” contract allowing that agent to market their property for a reasonable fee.  Under the alliance their agent can show the property to other agents who will then show it to their clients, allowing for more sales opportunities.  With the trust developed among agents under the alliance the agent that holds the contract is secure in knowing that another agent won’t steal the sale.

Partnered up with Panamanian lawyer Jose G. Broce of Broce-Pinilla Abogados, the alliance would have proper legal backing.  He would sit down with the proper government agency to work out the details necessary to form such an alliance.  A board would be selected under his counsel to set guidelines that each professional in the alliance would follow.  This would ensure that all real estate agents follow the same guidelines, practices and procedures and documentation throughout the beach communities.
This first meeting was held at the home of a current listing which is for sale or rent with Try Panama Realty.  Future meetings will be held on the site of other properties to allow agents to see what’s available and also give them a chance to network and share ideas. Such an alliance will help agents to gain client trust, pass on the exact information to all parties, and keep professionals informed on all happenings in the area.
