Playa Community is going to the Printing Press!

In this age of technology, businesses are generally seeking to expand thier reach via a social media and mobile presence. For www.playacommunity.com, a popular English language web portal serving Panama’s Pacific coast, since 2007, an expansion includes printed media. The portal has just launched a print publication, called LA PLAYA Community News. The web portal, www.playacommunity.com is most popular among expats for its content providing information about getting around in Panama, beach social events, business profiles, classifieds, tide tables and other useful beach-community oriented features. The site also has it's own iPhone and Android app, called PANAMA TIDES, which provides Tide Chart information for locations across Panama.

The new print publication, with a newsprint format will be published monthly. Its aim is to cover the beach areas from Punta Chame to Rio Hato. The paper will be distributed through hotels, restaurants, condo lobbys and other popular spots through out the beaches. Like the website, the paper will be in English with some parts in Spanish. The first months will be an adjustment period for elements such as distribution points, features and other factors. "From now until June, we are offering special rates for advertisers to help get us started", says Jamuna Burry, founder of the website. The paper will offer full-page, half-page, 1/4 page and business card size ads.

The print edition of the popular website, will widen the reach of the website and its supporters. “The paper helps us get into the hands of people who still prefer to get their information in print”, says Jamuna. The reach will also cover travellers without access to internet, and those who are not yet familiar with www.playacommunity.com.

The first edition of the paper will launch February 1st. Look for LA PLAYA Community News at popular spots around Panama's Pacific coast.
