Coronado Home Invasions
- The home of Vera Bucek, owner of Punto G, a computer store at Coronado Mall, was invaded by 2 men yesterday, Friday Dec 21, 2012
- Vera lives on Punta Prieta in Coronado, across the street and a few houses down from Picasso Bar & Restaurant.
- Two men walked through the front gates of the home around 6pm.
- The men spoke English. There were carrying a grocery bag.
- Denny, Vera's husband was working in the garage, which is a small building next to the main house.
- Vera's daughter Tiffany, who is visiting from the US was watching TV in the main house.
- Vera was at the store and not due to arrive until 8pm.
- The men asked for money and jewelry. They wanted to know where the safe was and wanted a combination to the safe.
- The men tied up Denny with plastic zip ties and used duct tape on his mouth.
- The men went into the house and pulled out a gun and pointed it at Tiffany. They also asked her for money and jewelry, and tied her up as well.
- There was a safe in the house, which neither Denny or Tiffany knew the combination to.
- As it turned out, the safe was open and contained only documents.
- The men went through the house finding things they could carry away.
- One of the men received a phone call from someone during the invasion. Tiffany, Vera's daughter who can understand some Spanish said it sounded like he was telling someone that he had looked everywhere and did not find anything.
- There was no money or jewelry in the home. The men did make off with computers, iPads, cell phones and Denny's wedding ring.
- The men left shortly before Vera came home around 8pm.
The same night at an unknown time another house was broken into inside the Coronado Golf course area, on the Tortuga Lake road. There were people in the house asleep. The burglars used tools to take bars off a window to get in. They took computers, cameras, cell phones and money from wallets. The sleeping inhabitants did not wake up and discovered the theft in the morning.
