The October Playa Community Youth Party
The first Playacommunity Youth Party was held at Locos Backyard Grill last Thursday, October 11th. Organized and hosted by Max Poirier, the event brought students together to hang out, eat great food, listen to awesomely loud music, and play rock band. Max took quite a bit of initiative to get this event off the ground. As a student at PCIS, the International school in Gorgona, Max gained assistance from other students to find music and activities which would suit the event. He worked with Locos Backyard Grill to establish a menu, and set the date and time for the event.
When Max and I met to speak about the party we both envisioned a place where kids could get together and get to know one another – something along the same lines as the playacommunity mixer or playa party, only for a younger group of people. Knowing it wouldn’t be easy… Max took on the challenge of organizing the event.
Max says:
“It felt good to get everybody together and to give people the opportunity to meet new people.”
In the future Max intends to reach out to more local schools and include more students from the area and from the city as well, both expats and Panamanians.
Thank you to the chaperones that came out last Thursday; Oliver Wolfe and Mike Poirier, this event would not have been possible without you. And a special thanks to the whole team at Locos Backyard Grill!
We are currently looking for chaperones for our next event, ideas for activities, and feedback on ways we could improve the event. Any feedback, ideas, or suggestions you could send out way would be greatly appreciated.
