Fiesta Alrededor del Mundo en Panama

The 2012 Fiesta Alrededor del Mundo, the “Round the world party” was held on 20th Sept at the ATLAPA center in Panama City. The event was organized by the Diplomatic and Panamanian Dames (DDP) of the Caravana of Social Assistance. This is a showcase of the world’s peoples and cultures that have made Panama their work place. The funds raised will be for the benefit of the Children’s Hospital, the financial target for this event was set to $80,000.The countries and cultures showcased were from many continents and they made their displays beautifully colourful with their traditional dress. A centre stage had traditional singing and dancing from many groups of both young and old.Event visitors were treated to gourmet foods and beverages from the world’s diverse pallets: spicy finger foods, sweet deserts and plates of traditional home cooking along with some  fine wines and beers.A number of consulate and embassy personnel were on location and mingled with the crowds and were readily available to chat.No event like this would be complete without an exhibition of handicrafts, and a fashion show made for a wonderful day.
