Discovering Surf Talents 2012 Youth Surf Competition

Today, Wednesday September 12th, is the last day to register for the 18 and under surf competition, happening here in the Pacific Beach area. The competition will take place at Playa Serena in Coronado this weekend, Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th, starting at 8:00 a.m. both days.

Discovering Surf Talents 2012, hosts of the youth surf comp, is a program striving to promote education. DST hopes to help kick start the careers of some of the young surf talents here in Panama, and give others the opportunity to surf for enjoyment of the sport. The only requirements for surfers are that they are under 18, in school with an average about 3.5, and have a parent or guardian to accompany them to the events.

One of our local youth surf talents, Tao Rodrigues, will be competing this weekend! At only 9 years old, Tao has already gained sponsorship. Surfing alongside many of the pros in the area, Tao is a fearless kid with an awesome personality and ambition that will take him far.

Head to playa Malibu this weekend to support Tao and many more emerging surfers!
