Coronado's Dry Forest Inauguration
The Coronado area is home to a unique natural eco-system, called a Dry Forest, that is important for scientific study, due to the rarity of its occurrence in the world. With the rise in land sales around the Pacific beach areas over the last few years, ecological areas could face elimination, if not protected. To ensure the preservation of natural lands for future generations, 45 hectares of dry forest land have been set aside as a scientific laboratory. The area, is dedicated to Eugene Eisenmann, a nature lover, whose study and research are credited for bringing Panama's bird population to the bird watching world. The inauguration will take place at the entrance to the Dry Forest, just past the main gates into Coronado, on Saturday November 26th at 4 p.m.
The artist Ologwagdi, of Kuna origin will unveil a mural that describes the characters that dominate the dry forest. Ologuaidi has illustrated multiple publications, among them, "Darien, a journey book" and illustrations at the Bio Diversity Museum at Panama's Amador Causeway.
