Coronado Beachfront Homes in Hot Water

An article in Panama America today confirmed that Chame Municipal Engineer, Rodolfo Morales will carry on with an  inspection of the Coronado beach for a new report on the illegal occupation of State owned land in the Coronado area. According to data from the National Land Registry, 107 families have taken 23.194 square meters of coastline belonging to the State without permission. Morales said that owners have built extensions and improvement on illegal property, around which large walls are constructed, making it difficult for inspectors to asses properties. Home owners regularly block access to property inspectors.   Panama America goes on to say that Morales reported that the situation is so out of control that every owner does what he wants in Coronado, and often don't respect the public beach accesses.

Panama America confirmed this week that the owners of  houses in Coronado continue taking the shores of the beach without being prevented by the authorities. Currently a house is being built almost on the sea shore, two other houses are being repaired and their walls are being expanded.

According to the National Land Registry, the State loses $ 1.5 million per month or $ 18 million annually for these illegal occupations.

Chame Municipality reports that the problem of Coronado is repeated, on a smaller scale, in Gorgona beach. The intervention of Anabell Villamonte, National Land Registry President is being called for, in the matter.

The article in Panama America published plans for lot allocations along Coronado's beachfront, along with the  square footage, names of owners and legal representatives.
