Silvard Live @ Playacommunity Mixer

Do you know how many  marine biologists there are in the world who also have a #1 ranked album in the music charts? The Answer is just one. He goes by the name of Silvard. Originally from the Netherlands, Silvard's interest in ocean life and music began at an early age. His passion for marine biology was spurred at the age of 6, when he picked up his first seashell (mollusk). He started playing piano at the age of 10, and even at that early age, his talent for music was apparent to family and friends. When he left his home country to pursue marine studies in the USA, Silvard continued to develop and explore his love for the piano. In fact his skills found him work that kept him on a busy performance schedule throughout his graduate and undergraduate studies.

While many people struggle to create a life, where experience and talent comes together in a way that is fulfilling and purposeful, Silvard, was born to this merge. His music is often impromptu - happening in the moment, flowing out of him - ebbing and flowing, like the ocean. His music takes the listener on a journey that lifts the mind out of daily routine and into a more serene place.  He refers to this process as "freeflow", which he has performed in concert and in the recording studio. In fact his 2003 release "Touched by the Sea" contained 14 freeflow compositions and the album reached #1 on the international New Age and Instrumental Radio charts that year.

Silvard's music  is broadcast on radio and television in many countries .  In Panama he appeared twice on the television show “Buena Energia" and preformed live at the National Theater in Panama City and at El Panama Hotel. His compositions are well known for their soothing and therapeutic quality, as is apparent from a  growing number of healthcare practitioners, therapists, workshop  coordinators, special education teachers, and physicians who use his music in their practice.

Highly requested by his fans across the world, Silvard outsold George Winston, Yanni, John Tesh, and Jim Brickman in the #1 New Age-selling record store in the USA. His 1996 composition, Ecstasy, from the album Picture of Time, was the second most requested track on the WNUA-FM (Chicago) "Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch" program. (Bruce Hornsby took the #1 spot).

Silvard has produced 12 albums, including 2 Christmas themed albums. His music is available in record stores and also through his website www.silvard.com.

On Wednesday, September 28, 2011, Silvard will be playing at the Playacommunity Mixer in Restaurant El Galleon in Santa Clara. His albums will be on sale at the event.

After travelling around the world for music and mollusks, Silvard now lives in Corona, on Panama's Pacific coast with his soulmate, Barbara. Living close to the ocean, he enjoys the coast near his home, where he fascinates over marine life on the rocks. In fact, he gave a new scientific name to one of the gastropods very common at low tide here in Panama! They are now called Acanthais. His piano sits on his ocean side terrace, where he plans to give small concerts in the near future.

After living 2 simultaneous careers as a musician, giving concerts all over the world and making his mark as a marine biologist, one may say, Silvad has slowed the gears down just little to enjoy life more. Here in Panama he is the official distributor of the Galelio Digital Piano. "It is perfect for being by the ocean" says Silvard, "as it doesn't need to be repaired or tuned". He will be playing a Galelio on September 28th.  He also enjoys giving ‘house concerts’, playing for parties and weddings. While freeflow is his signature, his repertoire spans fifty years of popular songs from Broadway classics to film themes to Billy Joel and Frank Sinatra.

Should you want to sharpen up your own piano repertoire, or simply learn from a creative genius, Silvard also gives private piano lessons. But, by far the most exciting thing he is doing these days is creating individual, personal recordings for people. So if there is someone special to whom you would like to send a musical expression of love, Silvard will compose a unique, freeflow recording with that person in mind.
