Money Raised for Children of SOS Orphanage
A benefit was held for the SOS Children's Orphanage last Saturday 20th August at Picasso Restaurant and Bar. The evening: A Night of MusicĀ was organized by Bobby Henderson and John July. The goal: Raise funds for Christmas hampers, birthday presents and activities for the children.
The format was simple. Bobby Henderson and John July laid out a list of 100 songs. Listeners requested songs to be played from the list. When the boys played the song, the requester would place a donation in a glass pot.
The evening was a success. An amount of $212 was raised from songs, plus a generous donation of $85 from Picasso Restaurant & Bar brought the total collected to $297, which has been rounded up to grand total of $300. All the funds collected will be used for the benefit of the children in the houses we support.
"Thank you to the Picasso for allowing us to stage the event and to all of you who came along and supported us (for dancing, playing the tambourine and singing along......you know who you are!!) and making it a very enjoyable and successful evening. John and I actually managed to play 42 songs." Said Bobby Henderson.
