Panama City is approaching a milestone, its 100th birthday. And to prepare, local government leaders are asking the public for input on how to improve over the next 100 years.

About 50 people showed up at Gulf Coast Community College for the first of the city's centennial conversations.

Residents were encouraged to voice their concerns and ideas about how to improve the quality of life in this area. The organizer, Janice Lucas, says she was pleased with the variety of topics discussed during the forum.

Janice Lucas said, "The citizen ideas that they brought here tonight are a mixture. Some are good, some will work, some won't, but they grasp the complexity of wanting better services, and who’s going to pay for that."

The forum is the first in a series of meetings that will be held over the next couple of months. The dates for those forums will be announced at a later time.
