Noriega wants to know if he will collect a Panama pension

(PanamaNewsRoom) Panama’s former military dictator, imprisoned in Paris, has been in contact with the Panamanian consul to check on the  status of his pension.

Consul Aristides Gómez said that the former dictator, Manuel Antonio Noriega. has filed enquiries requesting information about his ability to collect retirement benefits when  he returns to Panama.

Noriega is in jail after being convicted in France on money laundering charges. He previously spent over 17 years in jail in the U.S, following the 1989 invasion and was then shipped to France to face more charges.

Lawyers for Noriega have been seeking a reduction of his time in jail for good behavior. The Panamanian government wants him extradited to face charges for crimes, including homicide,  allegedly committed while he was in power.
