Come fly a kite - or just watch - in Panama
(PanamaNewsRoom) If you are in to making or flying kites, or just like to watch others demonstrate their skills, then the 11th annual Kite and Tambourine Festival at Amador Causeway is for you.
The festival will be held in the parking lots near TGIF with two competition categories: Artisanal (developed by competitors) and Commercial (purchased). There will be cash prizes for the top three handmade kites, and trophies and prizes for the winners of each section and for participants.
Registration is free until Friday March 18 at 4:00 p.m. To register call: 236-0255 (extension 127) or 236-7355, Monday through Friday from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You can also register via the Internet: aprochipa@gmail.com
In advance a kite and tambourine workshop will be held at Friendship Chinese-Panamanian Friendship Cultural Center and Park from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday March 12 at a cost of B/.8.00, which must be paid prior to the activity at the offices of APROCHIPA (Boulevard El Dorado high school gym after the Sun Yat Sen) ..
The Festival, is a family event that has been organized and conducted by The Association of Chinese Professionals. The kite was invented in China, and the skills in making and flying live on. Expect some colorful and exciting displays.
