State dividends from private parnerhsips climbing
(PanamaNewsRoom) Panama's government received higher-than-expected dividends from its stakes in private companies during 2010.
The government got returns totaling $153.3 million, in 19010 That was $6.3 million more than estimates. The state received $144 million in 2009.
Jorge Dawson, the director of state Concessions and Investments predicted further increase because of strong economic growth in the country.
The largest contributor was Cable & Wireless, with a payment of $65.6 million. Electric companies AES Panama and Enel Fortuna each paid around $27 million.
