Two Police Officers Arrested and Charged in Jail Fire Case

alt(Panama-Guide) - La Prensa -  Dimas Guevara, the Auxiliary Prosecutor of the Republic, said that for now there are no plans to change the injunction against the two policemen who have been arrested in the middle of the investigation into the third-degree burns received by seven young men who were being held at the Tocumen Fulfillment Center - four of whom have died. The officers accused of this case, Ernesto Blake and Luis Ortega, received the injunction of "barracks for jail." (Note: This means they are being held at the police station where they work.) Guevara said today he has not excluded the possibility of bringing charges against other suspects. The prosecutor said the investigation into the burns suffered by seven youths will be sent in the next few days to a superior prosecutor. He added that the Superior Prosecutors will continue to investigate this case, which has killed four young men and three remain hospitalized with third degree burns.
