The Fantasy World of City Hall

alt(newsroompanama.com) The opening of mayor Bosco Vallarinos million dollar Christmas villages on the Cinta Costera has been postponed until Sunday,( December 13)  allegedly because of the heavy rains.

A spokesman for the Mayor's Office Leo Alvarado, said that most of the decorations use electricity, and as a preventive measure, will not be lit until Sunday after the Christmas parade.

However the rains have provided a good excuse for the lack of progress in creating what will be called “A World of Fantasy.” A day before the scheduled opening only one of 18 displays was in place, several goblins and a small train, plus a Coca Cola Christmas tree. There was no sign of other stages and lighting systems that were part of 90 issued contracts.

Bosco’s advisor, Jose Isabel Blandon told the city council on Tuesday(November7) that there is was no backlog and on December 9, from Miramar to the Seafood Market, the Fantasy World would be open.

Then came the rain, and the advisor’s Fantasy disappeared under the deluge.

For some, who have opposed the repeat of the Mayoral extravaganza, the delay is good news, with local residents spared the noise fest that accompanied last year’s event for a few days. Others described the displays as tacky. Carols blasted from loudspeakers throughout the day and late into the night, even when the strip was deserted.
The reintroduced Christmas parade will travel along Calle 50 and Aquilino de la Guardia to Parque Urracá.
