Silvard Instrumental Piano Recording Artist Plays in Coronado, Playacommunity Mixer
One thing the Playacommunity neighborhoods are not short of, is talent. Neither is Silvard - a marine biologist who has 12 piano albums to his credit. His music has made top 10 radio playlists. In fact in 1996 his composition “Ecstasy”, was the second most requested track on a Chicago radio station. Bruce Hornsby took the #1 spot. Born in the Netherlands, Silvard has been playing piano since the age of 10 and recorded his first album in 1994. At 18, spurred by a passion for seashells (mollusks), he left home to study Marine Biology in the United States. His love for all things marine shows up in his music. His recording company is called Musical Mollusk, and his logo is a combined shell and G-clef. But the most evident place the ocean shows up is in Silvard’s music itself.
Silvard’s music “flows” through him. Silvard has the unique ability and technique to perform – on the concert stage - pieces that he has never played before. He refers to these compositions that he makes up on the spot as "Freeflow" compositions.
Silvard has Freeflowed these impromptu pieces during live television broadcasts and on the concert stage, but also in the recording studio so as to be able to record these one-time-only compositions. The two resulting Freeflow CDs, Postcard from Cape Cod and Touched by the Sea, respectively reached #6 and #1 on the national radio play lists. Silvard currently resides in New Seabury on Cape Cod with his soulmate Barbara as well as spending much of his time here in Panama.
To hear Silvard play live, join us at La Carretta Restaurant on October 27 for the monthly Playacommunity Mixer. It promises to be a magical evening.
