Panama’s national parks underfunded
(newsroompanama.com) None of Panama's national parks have enough funding, and most of them are drastically underfunded according to a report by the country’s environmental agency, Anam.
A recently produced report report looked at 37 of the 101 protected areas of the country. Only two areas, the Darién National Park and the Metropolitan National Park, had funding that approached what the facilities need to patrol and maintain them.
The rest of the analyzed areas are below 75 percent of the funding they need, and "most do not get 25 percent of the economic resources necessary for their administration," said the report.
