Airlines smoothing the way to Panama’s tourist hot spots

newsnviews2(newsroompanama.com) Three Panamanian airlines are developing strategies to make it easier for travelers to get from Panama City to the country’s most popular tourist destinations.

Aeroperlas Regional, Copa Airlines and Air Panama are planning to streamline booking systems for flights to to Bocas del Toro and David, the gateway to Boquete.

Aeroperlas manager Nester Echevers says that, in the coming months, the airline will be included in global reservation systems Amadeus and Saber. This will allow travel agents and tour operators to book tickets on the airline, and also allow passengers to book a connection from Panama City to the interior at the same time as booking their flight into Panama City.

Joseph Mohan, a senior vice president of Copa Airlines, said the company is negotiating with Air Panama so that passengers arriving at Tocumen International Airport can fly to the interior with the purchase of a single airline ticket. If a deal can't be worked out, the airline may consider offering service to the interior or finding another company in the region to service the route.
