Home buyers crowd in at housing fair

newsnviews2(newsroompanama.com) Over $200 million worth of business transactions were conducted at Panama's Expo Habitat 2010 which ended Sunday at Atlapa Convention Center and gave a boost to the flagging housing industry.

Attendance exceeded expectations and more than 400 companies took part.

Organizer Enrique Asensio, said that the sales volume was largely houses ranging between $35,000 and $80,000,  homes  that qualify for preferential mortgage rates but he said  that real estate agents reported stronger sales across the board from last year, even in the luxury segment.

The construction industry is expected to grow by 5 percent this year.
