More traffic pain for long term gain in Panama

newsnviews2(newsroompanama.com) Panama is heading for  three years of increased traffic pain leading to   long term gain  says   Robert Roy, executive secretary of Panama’s metro train system.

Work on subway construction will begin next year and the, capital will be embroiled in a series of changes that will affect vehicular traffic, said  Robert Roy, executive secretary of the metro,

Although the discomfort will be extended for three years (until 2014), what you you have to think about is the future benefits that rail transport will bring he said. Metro Line 1 will connect Los Andes in  San Miguelito to Albrook, a distance of 14 kilometers in about 23 minutes.

That translates, according to Roy, into a more effective, safe and fast mode of transportation for those who use the system and they will avoid traffic congestion in the streets.
