Come to the Fair in David, Panama
There has been a end of summer fair in David, Panama virtually every year since 1926. It started out as just agricultural exhibits but has evolved into substantially more. The Feria Internacional de David is comparable to a large county fair in North America and is a trade fair at the same time. Come to see the tractors, eat a little cotton candy, and buy lots of homemade crafts. Maybe it would be better to save eating until after the ferris wheel or the tilt-a-whirl.
David is the capital of Chiriqui Province and Chiriqui is the major agricultural producer of Panama. The agricultural roots of the fair still exist and prosper with the agricultural sector of Chiriqui. It was in the 1970's that the fair took on an international flavor. Today foreigners come to see Panamanian products, do business, and eat a little cotton candy too. There will be technical exhibits as well as machinery and lots of local arts and crafts on your way to the midway. As many as 300,000 visitors are expected and everyone will enjoy home style cooking, treats, and lots of beverages.
The fair is an all day event so bring sun screen, a hat, money, and your appetite. Just make sure to do the tilt-a-whirl before the beer tent! Ticket booths open at 10 am every day. Fair hours are from 12 noon to 12 midnight Monday through Thursday and 10 am to midnight Friday through Sunday. Exhibit areas are open 2 pm to midnight.
