Features of the Tocumen International Airport, Panama City, Panama

newsnviews2.jpgHave you arrived early to the Tocumen International Airport and need to kill some time? Or did you run short on cash or need to pay for overweight baggage? Are you hungry?

Tocumen International Airport consists of three floors. The bottom floor is where arriving passengers pass through immigration and customs, collect their bags, and meet their party or hail a taxi . Restrooms are located in the baggage collection area. In the lobby you will find women’s bathroom on the far left and men’s to the far right as you face the inside of the building. An information desk offers brochures. Car rental desks are located to the right near vending machines offering sodas, candy bars, and chips.

The second floor is where departing passengers check in, pass through security, and find their gate. Once pass security, you can visit an array of duty-free stores selling perfumes, toys, cigarettes and liquor, electronics, and luggage. You can enjoy coffee and sweets at the small shop or get a donut at the recently opened Dunkin’ Donuts. Bathrooms are located throughout the waiting areas near the departure gates. There are no vending machines in this area.

The third floor, which is accessed before you pass through security, features an artisan’s store, the Terrafirme restaurant, and ATM machines.

The newly remodeled airport is comfortable and small, with signage in Spanish and English. It is easy to find your way around and offers enough shops to keep you occupied if you arrived early for your departure. However, the air conditioning is kept on high; bring a sweater if you chill easily!
