Tropigas Tank Fire in Banking District
By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - At approximately 2:00 pm this afternoon a 3,000 pound gas tanker truck from the Tropigas company exploded in the banking area, right behind the Marriot Hotel. The truck was carrying liquefied petroleum gas. and the crew was about to start to refuel a 500 pound gas tank belonging to a restaurant in a building called La America. Apparently the crew had not yet started the refueling process because the hose was still completely on the roll - they had not yet made the connection to start to refill the tank.
