A Panama Minstrel under the Bougainvilleas

In Casco Viejo, the three hundred thirty year old transplant of the original Panama City, there is a nice open area down at the tip. It is the Plaza de Francia. To the right along Calle 1A is a walkway under a tunnel of bougainvilleas, it is called the Paseo Esteban Huertas and leads to the tip of Casco Viejo with a view of the Bay of Panama to the left and the Pacific to the right. The sea breeze is refreshing and there is a nice view back toward modern Panama City across the bay.

Along the flower covered walkway there are always vendors of Panama crafts such as the colorful molas made by women from Kuna Yala. Last Sunday there was a banjo player and singer, a minstrel under the Bougainvillas. Here is just a little of his song.
