Justice Almengor Recused Himself from Gomez Case

(Panama-Guide) - By MÓNICA PALM for La Prensa - Supreme Court magistrate Jose Abel Almengor recused himself from hearing the request to remove Panama's Attorney General Ana Matilde Gomez from her position. Gomez's defense lawyers had previously filed a petition to have Almengor recused from being the designated judge in the case, alleging that in March 2009 the Prosecutor opened disciplinary proceedings against Almengor who at the time was serving as an Anti Drug Prosecutor.
