Uniforms for Students (UFS) Project – Request for your support

As most who live here know, students must have uniforms to attend even the public schools. For the past 3 years, the UFS project has provided uniforms to children with financial need.  The project assisted 18 students in 2007, 92 in 2008 and 180 in 2009 and has expanded to help in 6 different schools in the Coronado area with La Laguna probably being the furthest away. In 2009 we spent over $1100- on uniforms, with funds from private donations. Due to inflation, 2010 costs are expected to be in the range of  $1300- to 1600- and, as of Jan 6, 2010, we require about $1100- in financial support to meet that goal. Real project work begins, in earnest, in January and it is usually completed by April.  Volunteers to help are welcome; each year we get a little better organized so sharing of the tasks should become easier.

Donations are welcome and essential to the UFS project; we appreciate every donation, big and small. 100% of all donations are used for the students and a detailed accounting report of that is provided to all donors.  For any questions or to volunteer to help or to donate, please contact Sharon at 6470-4699 (email: rennie2x@yahoo.com ) or Mayra at 6616-5585.  Also, look deeper into www.playacommunity.com for the 2009 UFS report.
