newsnviews2.jpg(Panama-Guide) La Estrella - The Panama Canal Authority will announce tomorrow the winning bidder of the largest dry excavation work in the expansion of the waterway. The contract requires the digging of a new channel that will connect the new locks with the Culebra Cut, the narrowest stretch of the waterway, near the entrance to the Canal to the Pacific Ocean. This is the fourth contract that will be awarded for excavation as part of the project to expand the Panama Canal, and it is the second largest contract in terms of price or value, second only to the contract to build the new set of locks.
