Wine Club of Panama

Panama has a wine club. If you are interested in educating your palate, hanging out with other wine lovers, or just looking for an excuse to head into town and drop by the mall on the way check out the Vino Club de Panama.

The wine club, whose really official name is the Fundación Cultural e Histórica Del Vino, meets two or more times a month for wine tastings, classes about wines, and meals with wine chosen to complement the food.

Panama chefs Willy Diggelmann, Rafael Ciniglio, and Peter Masoliver along with Lydia Stec Samudio founded the Panama wine club. Besides its routine get togethers the club sponsors a yearly Wine Expo. The next one will be on July 15 to 17 of 2010.

Wine has a long and interesting history. In recent years we hear that a glass of red wine a day reduces heart attach risk because of the anti oxidants. This is know to heart doctors as the "French inigma" in that French cooking is very high in fat but the French have fewer heart attacks. It's the wine!

Anyway, the way to learn about wine is to taste it, lots of different varieties. The more varieties of wine we taste the more educated our palate and the better choices we make when selecting wines. What better way to learn about wines than by tasting in the company of other wine lovers and wine experts?

If a little wine tasting interests you contact the Vino Club de Panama at http://vinoclubdepanama.com/, email vinoclubdepanama@gmail.com or rebeccas@cwpanama.net or call 6640-1717.

 Salud!
