Via Brazil to Become North-South Corridor in Panama City

panama_news_wire1.jpgThe lack of primary arteries to channel North - South traffic in Panama City is one of those problems in a city where traffic is becoming more complicated. To resolve this situation, the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) intends to create a transverse axis along Via Brazil. The project anticipates elevated overpasses where Via Brazil intersects Via Israel, Calle 50, Vía España, Avenida Simón Bolívar (Transístmica) and Avenida Ricardo J. Alfaro (Tumba Muerto). There would be a combination of solutions used at each intersection, including elevated roadways, tunnels, roundabouts, or a combination thereof, so that ultimately Via Brazil will act as a connection between the two major highways that circle the city.
