The business sector is optimistic that the Panamanian economy is likely to increase between 5% and 6% in 2010 compared to 2009, which will reach only 3% growth due mostly to the international financial crisis that affected Panama. The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Panama, Adolfo Linares, expected by year's end as commercial business activity takes an upturn, that activity will be reflected positively in the economy as in previous years. "The Panamanian economy has had positive growth indicators, approximately 3% which is very good compared to other countries in the region and even in the world, which is very significant," he said.
