About The New Panamanian Naval Bases
(Panama-Guide ) - The government of Panama has decided to build several new naval bases in relatively remote areas of the country in order to enhance their capabilities to fight drug trafficking and other crimes. In the traditional sense of the word, these are not actually naval bases but rather police stations - Panama doesn't have a regular Navy because the military was outlawed thanks to 21 years of military dictatorship under Omar Torrijos and then Manuel Noriega.
