November - Panama's Raniest Month Of The Year

parade_nov_3_09_thumbnail.jpgBy DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Here in Panama it really, really rains a lot in the first two months of the rainy season (April and May) and the last two (October and November). Today, 3 November 2009, Panama celebrates its Independence from Colombia in 1903 so Panama is now 106 years old as an independent republic. And the best bet in Panama? The chances are excellent that it will rain (hard) on the high school marching bands that will be participating in the parades today. Expect to see video of soaking wet majorettes on the evening news tonight, smiling and dripping to the beat of the drums, full of national pride. It's a tradition that goes back forever, and I don't think they would have it any other way.- photo by Jim Walker, www.playacommunity.com
