Update on Mike and Olia - Expats Shot Near Playa Blanca Hotel - Continue To Improve and Recover
By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - I took a new cell phone to Mike this morning, who continues to recover in the Santo Tomas hospital from the attack against him and his wife on Saturday morning. While I was there they took him down to orthopedics to put a more stable plaster cast on his right arm. A bullet shattered the bone in his right forearm and he's going to need surgery to repair the damage. The really wonderful news is about his wife, Olia. (For the record, I had been calling her Olga but that's not her name as I originally thought.) Apparently the bullet that struck her head did not actually penetrate the bones of the skull. Thankfully, the bullet struck bone and deflected into soft tissue but did not enter her brain or cause any kind of permanent brain damage.
