Dancing with the Strays
Thursday night, the rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of over 100 party goers as they danced the night away at Alcazar in support of the Spay the Strays Group. Most of them were really in the swing of things - dressed in creative costumes and ready to rumba! Picking winners was really hard but finally the judges awarded the couples prize to Leland and Janece McKenzie who were a PG-13 rated plug and outlet. The prize for best male costume went to Allan Breadner for his golf green (channeling Caddyshack, complete with gopher!). And best female costume award was won by Jody’s daughter, Dananna Solomon, who came as a sassy 60’s flight attendant. Their photos along with lots of others are below. Special thanks go to Tony Giordano who arranged the use of Alcazar which was the perfect venue for the dance. The staff at Alcazar could not have been nicer and more helpful! This FUNdraiser was not only ghoulishly fun! It also raised almost $1,000 for Spay the Strays which covers about a quarter of our costs for 2010. We plan to hold our next dance in the spring, so stay tuned!
What else does Spay the Stray have planned in the upcoming months? We are currently selling Spay Panama calendars for $7.00. Spay Panama, like all non-profits, has experienced a severe decline in donations and without them, we could not hold these spay and neuter blitzes. Please contact Sheila at 6656-9929 (sheilalouisescott@gmail.com ) or Mary at 6752-5815 (fugoweefarm@hotmail.com ) to purchase one. Both U.S. and Panama holidays are listed with their names and the weeks begin on Sunday (those who bought one last year know what this means…).Also, on Nov. 14th, we will have a booth at the Coronado Craft Fair selling the calendars, dog biscuits, catnip mice, dog and cat Christmas scarves as well as baked goods, tons and tons of used books and CDs. Hope to see you there!
