Maximum Prison Terms Increased to 50 Years

newsnviews2.jpg(Panama-Guide ) By JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ PINILLA for La Prensa - Panama's National Assembly approved on third reading early Saturday morning a new law that establishes a maximum prison sentence of 50 years. The current Penal Code establishes a maximum penalty of 35 years. With the new law penalties for offenses committed by a single person or independently can be accumulated to a maximum of 50 years in prison. This law rule applies - without prejudice to the commission of other crimes - when two or more crimes are committed, including murder for hire or paid assassination, kidnapping, human trafficking, drug trafficking, aggravated theft, money laundering, conspiracy, gangs, crime of forced disappearance or terrorism.
