Ikebana Panama: Flowers and Society

The Panama Ikebana Association met last Tuesday, the 20th for a flower and bonzai exhibit as well as a fashion show. Members viewed bonzai belowing to Lila de Bennet and simple and beautiful flower arrangements by Anila de Andrade, Nilda de Garcia, Vilma de Gonzalez, and Suzy Salerno. Ikebana is a Japanese art of flower arranging that is hundreds of years old. It finds its beauty in simplicity and natural arrangements. The society was formed by a North American lady in Tokyo in the 1950's and has chapters in 60 nations throughout the world.

Ikebana is dedicated to social relationships and world peace through a shared interest in flowers. The association meets for social and artistic events and works for charitable functions as well.
