Breast Cancer Awareness Art Show in El Valle, Panama: Mammaria
To promote Breast Cancer Awareness, 5 artists from El Valle have created an art show with the theme of breasts and breast cancer awareness. The show “Mammaria” was designed to inspire and challenge the artists to create pieces “with a bit of fun” to raise awareness of Breast Cancer. The artists are: Cynthia Hass Bishop: Cynthia likes multiple media, preferring cloth, hot glass & seed beads. She moved to El Valle two years ago from California via Colorado.
Barbara Camph: Barbara has been working with glass for over 25 years and likes to explore new ways to use and show glass. Originally from California, she lived in Portugal for 12 years and has lived in El Valle for 2 years.
Franco Getzy: Franco enjoys working with a variety of media. He is currently using cement to create sculptures and lamps. He is originally from South Africa and has lived in El Valle for the past 10 years.
Mary Tichenor: Mary has recently been working with 2-dimentional media and hopes to resume working with ceramics when the opportunity allows. She moved from California to El Valle about 1 year ago.
Christine Trexel: Christine uses local plants to create homemade papers, which she uses as the media to make pictures, books and boxes. She moved to El Valle 3 years ago from Oregon.
The pieces will be on display until October 31st at the Bambusillo Galeria (on the Avenida Principal, next to the Mia Farmacia and across the street from the Gourmet and Coffee Shop).
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is celebrated annually in many countries around the world. The campaign strives to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention and cure.
