'Missing' canoeist arrested for fraud
The wife of a British man missing, presumed dead, for five years has reportedly
confessed that she and her husband were involved in a plot, but says her sons were not part of it.
When Anne Darwin was tracked down at her Panama City flat she professed to be shocked and surprised to find out her husband, John, was still alive.
But after a photo emerged apparently showing the couple together in Panama in March 2006 she reportedly confessed.
Mrs Darwin has apparently said she would struggle to repay the money she got from her husband's life insurance.
Meanwhile, her husband, John Darwin, is already in police custody after being arrested for fraud. He mysteriously reappeared at a London police station on the weekend, claiming amnesia.
Police say they reopened the investigation into John Darwin's disappearance three months ago after getting a tip off that the supposedly dead man was alive and well, and living overseas.
